Mr. Eshoo’s background in real estate began in 1984 when he majored in real estate at San Diego State University. San Diego State, one of the top ten business schools in the nation, is one of the few universities to offer a real estate program.
The program is part of the Business Administration major within the Department of Finance. The major requires 148 units or nearly 5 years of education to complete and is like two degrees in one.  For the next three years, Mr. Eshoo studied and also became one of the founding members of the Real Estate Students Union at San Diego State. In addition, Mr. Eshoo interned with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate in downtown San Diego. Finally in May of 1987, Mr. Eshoo earned his Bachelor of Science in Real Estate. Despite several job offers Mr. Eshoo decided to take up familiar roots back in Northern California.

A property appraiser is an official that determines the real and tangible value of property in a specific county. Most property appraisers work in an area that they are familiar
with. Having intimate knowledge of environmental concerns that could affect property values is helpful to the appraiser.
